2018 OSIsoft Johannesburg Regional Seminar Coming to you!

Want to learn more about the PI System, OSIsoft’s technology direction and how customers like you are digitally transforming? Our free Regional Seminars are designed to keep you up-to-date. This year, We are coming to Johannesburg on August 2nd to bring you the latest! Each year, over 2,000 customers attend our regional seminars to:

  • Present their stories
  • Network with peers and partners
  • Hear about industry trends
  • See the latest from OSIsoft
  • Attend our PI 101 Workshop for PI System newcomers

This year our regional seminars focus on digital agility. From engineers to data analysts, we are seeing a rapid evolution of digital technologies and analytics. With this evolution comes opportunity for new solutions, as well as their associated challenges. Talks from OSIsoft, our customers and our partners will cover rapid configurations of the PI System to deliver solutions to industrial needs,  out-of-the-box uses of the PI System, as well as how a data infrastructure that extends  from the edge to cloud supports digital agility towards operational excellence.

The PI System in the Digital Enterprise

Are you ready for your Digital transformation? Today, data drives our world. It's all around us. Operational Data is all around us. The challenge is getting the data we need, at the right time, to the right people to make a difference. With the PI System, you can Transform Your World with Data.

11:00 AM - 11:30 AM
Keynote: Digital Agility in the Evolving World of Industry 4.0 and IIoT
Automation, IIoT, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Artificial Reality – the next decade promises to be the digital revolution of the industrial world. Our challenge is integrating legacy systems and assets with new technologies to harness the explosion of data to drive new opportunities without risking existing operations. This keynote will cover the challenges of the digital revolution and best practices for success and highlights how a data infrastructure strategy can support organizations invest in an agile ecosystem of edge, enterprise and cloud technologies.
11:30 AM - 12:00 PM
The Digitalization of Manufacturing

Digitalization is the path most of the manufacturing companies are following in order to improve efficiencies and remain competitive. The Process Industries are adopting trends like Industry 4.0, Big Data, and IIoT to make it happen. These are concepts that are easily understandable when framed as a means to a goal and embraced as a journey. This presentation will show the use cases in the Pulp and Paper industry for the adoption of digitalization and analytics, its challenges and the way to overcome them.

12:00 PM - 12:30 PM
Event Frames – A novel approach to enable life cycle management - Anglo American Platinum
Anglo American Platinum (Amplats) is the world’s leading Producer of refined Platinum. The Amplats converting process had a unique challenge of managing ingots and associated equipment during a slow cooling process. A web-application was created for manual data entry, business and process logic. This web application leveraged native: Event Frame, Element, Event Frame Templates and Asset Framework search capabilities, to simplify the implementation.
12:30 PM - 1:30 PM
Lunch & Networking

1:30 PM - 2:00 PM
CBM: Just Right, Just-in-Time Maintenance
We are being asked to run equipment longer, faster and harder with less resources while minimizing failures. Condition based maintenance takes a data driven approach to maximizing the performance of your assets and maintenance schedules.  Discover through drag and drop configuration how the PI System can be used for condition based maintenance. Configure digital representations of your assets, calculate key performance indicators (KPIs), and even send notifications or kick off maintenance work flows based on the real condition of your assets.  Kick-starting your CBM project has never been easier with the modern PI System.
2:00 PM - 2:30 PM
Do Something Amazing
Rubin will describe the  “Do Something Amazing” campaign at PetroSA which has initiated some amazing insights. The purpose was to gain value by understanding how the the PI data can be used across the oprganisation and share the knowledge. We extract the knowledge from the PI system and then enable people to use it to add value. In the past the response has often “how do we give this to everyone”. So we have started sessions with our team - “Event frames everywhere”
It’s like Ford said, you can have any frame as long as it is an event frame”
We had fun and this collaborative effort will yield an estimate a saving of at least R5mil over a 12 month period.
2:30 PM - 3:15 PM
Analytics and Data Lake: It’s what you do with the data that counts
Industrial Analytics is the buzz of the day. Big data, data lakes, machine learning and artificial intelligence are offering the allure of new insights and answers to efficiencies.  However sometimes the first big win comes from a small improvement and the data your already own.  Learn how you can break down seemingly complex big data problems into a manageable sequence of steps with the PI System.  Even without waiting for completion of a full-blown statistical model, your operational experts can often spot anomalous patterns with little more than a few events captured by PI System event frames and compiled in a report.  And when you are ready to push data to advanced machine learning (ML) tools, the PI Integrator line is available to jump-start your data science initiative with clean, ready-to-consume, reliable data.
